Usyk's team confirms they are highly interested in making the bout between Usyk and Wilder happen.
Details: In his interview with Boxing Scene, former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder gave his take on the ongoing negotiations with Oleksandr Usyk's camp regarding a possible showdown between the two fighters:
"I honestly didn’t expect it. You know, when I got the call, and then my manager called back and said: 'We’re in touch,' I started pacing back and forth. Like I said before, there are probably some burned marks on my carpet from all the laps I did. I even thought I smelled smoke. But yes, I was excited. Really excited. I was overwhelmed with joy," Wilder admitted.
Deontay assures that negotiations are progressing smoothly and he sees that Usyk is equally keen on making this fight happen:
"We’re in talks right now. Negotiations are going very well. I just hope and pray everything works out for the best, and that we give the fans what they want to see.
A lot of people are hyped, they’ve made that clear to me. I even called a friend and said, 'Bro, they’re really fired up for this fight.' So let’s see what happens next," Wilder said.
