NBA Nears Deal to Host Games in Manchester
The NBA, widely regarded as the best basketball league in the world, is looking to further expand its global reach by bringing official games to England.
Details: According to The Times journalist Ian Whittell, the NBA is close to finalizing an agreement to host games in Manchester. The newly built Co-op Live Arena, which has a capacity of 23,500 spectators, is set to become the largest basketball venue in Europe. If the deal is finalized, games could begin as early as next season.
Interestingly, the arena is owned by City Football Group, the parent company of Manchester City. Additionally, NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum recently met with London Mayor Sadiq Khan to discuss the possibility of hosting games in the English capital.
The NBA is also exploring a similar agreement with PSG, aiming to stage games in Paris.
