Napoli will dismiss their head coach. A replacement for his position is already prepared

Napoli will resign their head coach Walter Mazzarri and is already negotiating with a new candidate, Fabrizio Romano reports.

It has been revealed that the Neapolitan team will dismiss their coach ahead of the UEFA Champions League match against Barcelona. Additionally, it's reported that Slovakia's head coach Francesco Calzona will replace Mazzarri, with the agreement already in its final stages.

Recall that the Slovak Football Association allowed the national team's head coach Francesco Calzona to start working with Napoli. If Calzona succeeds in reaching an agreement with Napoli, he will combine his work at the club with the Slovak national team at least until the end of Euro 2024. Today, Calzona and Napoli will have their final round of negotiations.

Walter Mazzarri took over the team in November 2023. Under Mazzarri's leadership, the Italian champions won only 6 out of 17 matches. After 24 rounds, Napoli currently sits in ninth place in Serie A.

As for the 55-year-old Calzona, he previously worked at Napoli as an assistant to Luciano Spalletti and Maurizio Sarri. In the summer of 2022, he became the head coach of the Slovak national team, leading them to Euro 2024.
