Napoli is close to signing Benfica's winger

Napoli appointed a new coach this offseason, Antonio Conte. Now, the club is seeking reinforcements ahead of the upcoming season.

Insider Fabrizio Romano has reported that Brazilian winger David Neres, currently playing for Benfica, is close to joining the Neapolitan team. The clubs are currently finalizing the last details, and the player is expected to sign a four-year contract with Napoli.

Last season, David Neres made 24 appearances for Benfica, scoring five goals and providing eight assists. Benfica finished the 2023/24 season in second place in the Primeira Liga, but will nonetheless compete in the main stage of the Champions League.

It is also worth noting that Benfica has officially announced the extension of the contract with Argentine winger Ángel Di María. His new deal with the Lisbon club is for one season.

Meanwhile, Napoli’s director, Giovanni Manna, is currently in London to address transfer matters related to Chelsea.
