Legendary Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka has prematurely ended her campaign at the 2025 Australian Open.
Details: The 27-year-old was unable to complete her third-round match against Swiss player Belinda Bencic due to an injury.
At the end of the first set, with Bencic leading 6–5, Osaka experienced leg pain and called for a medical timeout. Although she managed to finish the set, losing it in a tiebreak, she was unable to continue thereafter.
Osaka is a two-time Australian Open champion, having claimed the title in 2019 and 2021. However, the Japanese star has been plagued by recurring health issues in recent years.
Reminder: Yesterday, last year’s finalist Daniil Medvedev was eliminated in a shocking upset by a 19-year-old American player.
