Morocco sets an African football record at the World Cup
Thanks to their remarkable run at the 2026 World Cup, the Atlas Lions have become the African team with the most wins and goals scored in the history of the competition.
Having already made history by reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Morocco has cemented its status as a leading African force on the international stage. After two wins and a draw in Group C of the current World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, the Moroccan team has not only secured their place in the round of 32, but has also written a new chapter in their World Cup legend.
The Atlas Lions have now recorded 7 wins and scored 26 goals in the World Cup. This makes Morocco the most successful African nation in the tournament’s history and the team that has scored the most goals.
