Morocco maintained their perfect record in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with a big 5-1 win over host Gabon, in the fifth round of Group Two on Friday evening.

Despite an early scare from Denis Bouanga’s stunning fourth-minute goal, Morocco responded with a commanding performance. Defender Jamal Harkass equalized with a precise header in the 17th minute, setting the stage for a Moroccan onslaught.

Real Madrid’s Brahim Díaz turned the game around with two quick goals in the 20th and 23rd minutes, increasing his international tally to four goals in just seven matches.

Youssef En-Nesyri added the fourth with a powerful header in the 81st minute, while Ismael Saibari closed the show with a stoppage-time strike.

Coach Walid Regragui's lineup featured a solid mix of defensive and attacking prowess, with standout performances from Achraf Hakimi, Sofyan Amrabat, and the attacking trio of Elyas Bencharki, Abdel Samad Zalzouli, and Ayoub El Kaabi.

The Moroccan national team raised its score to 15 points in first place, followed by Gabon in second place with 7 points, compared to 4 points for the Lesotho national team in third place.
