Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has shed light on the unexpected absence of Bukayo Saka from the starting lineup for the Premier League clash against Leeds. The winger picked up a minor injury during the pre-match warm-up.
Saka was initially set to start at Elland Road, but at the last minute, Arteta was forced to make a change and brought in Noni Madueke instead. After Arsenal cruised to a 4-0 victory, Arteta reassured fans, stressing that Bukayo’s injury is not serious.
He felt a bit of discomfort during the warm-up. In that condition, it wouldn’t have been right to start him, so I made the decision to replace him with Noni straight away. Now we’ll run a few tests tomorrow and see where he’s at, said Arteta.
It’s worth noting that the Gunners secured their first Premier League win in four matches. Arsenal are seven points ahead of Aston Villa and Manchester City, but both teams will play their matchday 24 fixtures tomorrow, February 1.
