The head coach of the University of Connecticut, Dan Hurley, has declined an offer from the Los Angeles Lakers to lead their team, reports ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

Hurley was not inspired by the proposal from the California club. He turned down a six-year contract worth 70 million euros.

Hurley will continue to lead the university team and strive to win a third consecutive NCAA title.

The 51-year-old coach has been at the helm of the University of Connecticut since 2018, guiding them to consecutive NCAA championships. Over six seasons, he has secured 141 victories against 58 losses.

Previously, he coached at Rhode Island and Wagner. It was earlier reported that other contenders for the Lakers' head coach position include JJ Redick and Monty Williams, should he be released by Detroit.

Recall that the Lakers dismissed Darvin Ham following their elimination from the first round of the NBA playoffs by Denver (1-4).
