Mohamed Salah closes in on Haaland in Premier League top scorer race
Mohamed Salah of Liverpool put on an outstanding display in Sunday's 3-2 victory over Southampton at St. Mary's Stadium, bringing him closer to Erling Haaland in the Premier League Golden Boot competition.
With Liverpool behind 2-1, Salah made a significant impact by scoring two crucial goals in the 65th and 83rd minutes—the second of which was a penalty kick—to give the team a crucial win. Southampton's fight at the foot of the table were exacerbated by this victory, which helped Liverpool hold onto their league-leading position.
With two goals in this game, Salah's season total of 10 puts him in second place on the scoring chart, two goals behind Haaland of Manchester City. The Norwegian failed to find the net in City’s heavy 4-0 loss to Tottenham on Saturday.
At 32 years old, Salah continues to prove his worth as one of the Premier League's most consistent scorers, keeping the race for the Golden Boot wide open.
