Mohamed Ouahbi is the new coach of the Moroccan national team
His appointment was made official following the announcement of Walid Regragui's departure
A new chapter is beginning for the Moroccan national team. After the Regragui era, marked by an excellent performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the national team's coaching staff is changing hands. Mohamed Ouahbi is now taking the reins of the Atlas Lions.
He was officially appointed as Morocco's new coach on Thursday 5 March 2026. The 49-year-old tactician will lead the Moroccan team to the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in three months' time in the United States, Canada and Morocco. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation's choice of Mohamed Ouahbi is no coincidence.
He recently won the U20 World Cup with Morocco. It is this resounding success that has earned him the trust of Moroccan football officials and allowed him to climb the ranks. Mohamed Ouahbi, who obtained a UEFA coaching diploma in 2018, started his career at a very young age in Belgium with the youth teams of Maccabi Brussels before joining Anderlecht. In 2021, he was appointed coach of the Moroccan national team.
