Modrić makes history in World Cup qualifiers


Luka Modrić has once again etched his name into the history books of the Croatian national team.
Details: Yesterday’s World Cup qualifying match between Croatia and Czechia marked a milestone moment for Luka.
In the 56th minute, the 39-year-old Modrić calmly converted a penalty, becoming the oldest European player ever to score in a World Cup qualifying match.
The match itself ended in a resounding 5-1 victory for Croatia. Modrić spent 81 minutes on the pitch before being substituted for Nikola Moro.
The previous record was held by Bosnian striker Edin Džeko.
Luka Modrić has been representing Croatia since 2006, amassing 188 caps and scoring 28 goals during his illustrious career.
