Miguel Cardoso is happy to have Ricardo Goss at Mamelodi Sundowns given the goalkeeper's talent

Ricardo Goos' return to Mamelodi Sundowns is not about to be a benchwarmer but he is back to fight for his place.

Goss has spent the past four seasons away on loan from Sundowns with the latest spell being at Siwelele FC.

Expectation on his return to Chloorkop is that he will play second fiddle to first choice goalkeeper Ronwen Williams but coach Miguel Cardoso has denied that theory.

“Ricardo’s quality is undeniable,” said Cardoso.

“He was here a long time ago during the prime of Denis Onyango and was involved in the transfer business of Ronwen Williams.

“So, when Ronwen came in the club, he went out and we thought that naturally it would be a good opportunity to bring him back he’s a qualified player.

“He didn’t come to substitute no one, but he came to fight for a place that he has all the qualities to do. Also, Denis is still important, but the age doesn’t forgive, we are preparing him to be still a player in the group important by the leadership."
