English Sunderland midfielder Jack Diamond has learned the verdict in a case of rape and sexual assault.

The incident occurred in May 2022. The football player met a girl on a special application, and from time to time they had sexual relations by mutual consent. The prosecution argued that that day Diamond invited the girl to his home, she agreed, but at the same time made it clear that they would only have hugs. Arriving at Jack's home in pajamas and a sweatshirt, the alleged victim climbed into his bed. The couple initially had consensual sexual activity, but then the girl said she was tired and wanted to sleep, after which Diamond allegedly raped her despite her protests.

At the same time, according to the athlete, the girl herself wanted to have sex, but he did not consider it a good idea. After this, the alleged victim turned away from him and even pushed him away when he tried to console her.

Newcastle Crown Court heard arguments from both sides and found the 23-year-old footballer not guilty of both charges. However, the jury took only 15 minutes to reach a verdict. After the court's decision was announced, Diamond put his head in his hands and cried with happiness.

We add that Sunderland suspended the footballer, who is a pupil of the Black Cats, in the spring of last year, when charges were brought against him - he last appeared on the field in March 2023.
