Miami Heat's head coach, Erik Spoelstra, has inked a new contract with the club, as reported by insider Shams Charania.

Spoelstra's contract now stands as the most substantial in NBA history. He has signed an 8-year agreement, entailing earnings of $120 million.

The 53-year-old American has been coaching Miami since 2008. Under his guidance, the team secured NBA championships in 2012 and 2013.

Overall, with Spoelstra at the helm, Miami has clinched victory in 1231 matches, ranking 19th in the league's history.

In the current season, Miami holds the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference, boasting 21 victories in 36 matches.
