Javier Aguirre describes Bafana Bafana as an African side with a mixture of European influence in their play.

This is what will make Hugo Broos' troops difficult to beat at the World Cup in their opening match next Thursday.

The El Tri coach said Bafana will be tricky opponents in Group A more than South Korea and Czechia, tow other nations in the same group.

"South Africa have done well and beat me in the African Cup,” Aguirre told reporters, as per Flashscore.

“They are a fierce team, not exactly with an African style, but a mix with European football. They have a Belgian coach, Hugo Broo, and some interesting players. I have the utmost respect for them. It won’t be easy.

The Mexican coach also feels that the Mexicans have a special chance of lifting this chance on home soil and also cited the England example who were champions as hosts in 1966 showpiece.

“That’s what I tell my players, playing at home is priceless,” he said.

“England were champions at home and never again. I have a lot of faith that the fans will encourage us, help us, and that the whole country will be behind us.”

Aguirre added that he is having no goosebumps ahead of the global spectacle but just excitement.

“Neither one, nervous nor the other (anxious),” he said.

“I’m genuinely excited. I’m one of the lucky ones, truly lucky.

“We are in our best physical, athletic and even mental shape. The players are very excited. None of them has experienced anything like this before. We’re all eager for the moment to arrive.”
