Following yesterday's events, not only have the new champions of Europe and South America been determined, but also the teams that will compete for the Finalissima trophy in 2025.
In the second edition of the Finalissima, Spain will face Argentina. This matchup means that for the first time in his career, 17-year-old Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal could play against his idol, Lionel Messi. This will be their first encounter since the legendary photos taken by Carlos Monfort, showing a young Messi bathing an infant Yamal.
However, it is not yet officially announced when and where the Finalissima 2025 will take place. According to sources in the British press, it is most likely that the match will be held in the United States, which hosted the Copa America 2025 and will be one of the three host countries for the 2026 World Cup.
The exact date will be determined later, but it will certainly be between June and July 2025.
As a reminder, Argentina won the 2022 Finalissima. At Wembley, Lionel Scaloni's team defeated Italy, the reigning European champions at the time, with a score of 3-0.
