Messi doesn't play, but collects awards. Inter Miami congratulated the Argentine on his 45th trophy
Six days have passed since the Copa America 2024 final. Argentina defeated Colombia to claim their record sixteenth championship title. The national team's star forward, Lionel Messi, was called up and played in five of the six matches. He only missed the final group stage match against Peru and was substituted in the final due to injury.
This injury is currently preventing Messi from continuing to play, so he is unable to help his team at the moment. However, this hasn't stopped Inter Miami from welcoming the Argentine star and congratulating him on winning his 45th career trophy.
Lionel Messi has become the most decorated player in history. His club did not overlook this milestone, and before the start of their home match against Chicago Fire, Messi appeared on the field in a protective boot to receive congratulations from the team and fans.
He was presented with a commemorative plaque celebrating his achievement. Included in these 45 trophies is Inter Miami's first major triumph. Last year, Messi helped the team win the Leagues Cup.
Despite Messi's absence, Inter Miami continues to perform confidently in MLS and currently leads the championship standings.
