Maxime Domínguez leaves Vasco and heads to MLS Maxime Domínguez leaves Vasco and heads to MLS

Maxime Domínguez is on his way out of Vasco da Gama. The 29-year-old Swiss attacking midfielder is set to join Toronto FC on loan until December, according to Atenção Vascaínos, with confirmation later reported by ge. Although the club has not made an official announcement, Domínguez’s absence from training on Wednesday at CT Moacyr Barbosa strongly suggests the deal is close to completion.

Domínguez arrived at Vasco in mid-2024 after an impressive season with Portugal’s Gil Vicente, where he registered six goals and four assists in 33 league matches. Expectations were high, but his impact in Brazil fell short. In just 14 appearances, he scored a single goal, which came against Atlético-GO late in the 2024 Brasileirão campaign. Despite having a contract until September 2026, limited playing time prompted both parties to seek an exit.

Vasco are now finalizing preparations for the start of the 2025 Brazilian league season following their exit in the state championship semifinals. Under manager Fábio Carille, the team will open their campaign on Sunday, March 30, hosting Santos at São Januário. Domínguez’s departure frees up space in the squad, potentially paving the way for new signings.
