Matthew Amoah Advises Antoine Semenyo Against Tottenham Move

Former Ghana international Matthew Amoah has urged Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo to remain at Bournemouth if Tottenham Hotspur is the only club pursuing him this summer. Amoah believes that Bournemouth, under Andoni Iraola, are currently in a stronger position both on and off the pitch compared to Spurs.

Amoah’s Advice to Semenyo

“With all due respect to Tottenham, if this is the only offer that comes to Antoine Semenyo this summer, then he should stay at Bournemouth. Bournemouth are currently a better team on the pitch than Tottenham and seem more stable with a very good coach in Andoni Iraola. So, joining a club that is far behind would be a demotion that makes no footballing sense.” Amoah stated.

Semenyo, 25, has been in fine form for Bournemouth, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 31 appearances across all competitions this season. He is a vital member of Iraola's club, who are making steady progress in the Premier League, thanks to his strength, speed, and ability to score goals.

Interest Transfer

While Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Napoli are keeping an eye on Semenyo, Tottenham is apparently considering a bid of €40 million (£33.5 million). Amoah believes Semenyo should wait for a more suitable move rather than rushing into a transfer that could hinder his progress.

International Duty

Semenyo is expected to be called up for Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar later this month. The Black Stars will face Chad on March 17 at the Accra Sports Stadium before traveling to Madagascar for their second qualifier.

Ghana currently sits second in Group I of the qualifiers, tied on nine points with Comoros. Winning these upcoming fixtures will be crucial for securing an automatic spot at the World Cup, set to be hosted in Mexico, Canada, and the USA next year.

With his club and international future in focus, all eyes will be on Semenyo’s decision as the summer transfer window approaches.
