Matt Critchley and Michael Pepper salvage a draw for Essex

Details: Matt Critchley and Michael Pepper produced a heroic 154-run stand for the fifth wicket, saving Essex from defeat in a dramatic encounter against Yorkshire in the Rothesay County Championship at Chelmsford.
Coming together at 45/4 late on day three, the pair spent four and a half hours at the crease, facing 458 deliveries. Pepper fell to the final ball before tea after scoring 68 from 229 balls, while Critchley departed soon after the interval for 75 from 246 deliveries.
Despite a late surge from Yorkshire, who claimed three wickets for 21 deliveries—including two by George Hill, who finished with best figures of 9 for 82—Essex's lower order held firm. Simon Harmer and Jamie Porter survived 82 balls in the last 38 minutes, denying Yorkshire the victory.
