Mats Hummels has bid farewell to Borussia Dortmund fans

The legendary Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has announced his departure from the club after 13 years at Signal Iduna Park.

The German footballer officially addressed the Dortmund fans to bid them farewell:

"Dear fans, my time in the black and yellow jersey is coming to an end after more than 13 years. It has been a great honor and pleasure to play for BVB for so long and to be part of the journey from 13th place in January 2008."

"Countless amazing coaches and fantastic players I had the honor to meet here. I keep my fingers crossed that you all meet again at Borsigplatz as soon as possible to celebrate."

"I will miss you."

This was Hummels' second spell at Borussia Dortmund, having played for the club from 2008 to 2016 before returning to Bayern Munich, where he was an academy product and had already played from 2006 to 2008.

In total, the central defender played 508 matches for the "black and yellow," scoring 38 goals and providing 23 assists. It is worth noting that Hummels was part of Jürgen Klopp's legendary team, which won the German championship twice.
