Mathare United head coach John Kamau has vowed to strengthen the team during the upcoming FKF Premier League transfer window after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Shabana on Saturday.
The win, Mathare's fifth of the season, came thanks to Brian Ouru’s first-half strike in the 35th minute, which condemned Shabana to their fifth defeat of the campaign.
While praising his team's performance, Kamau underlined that in order to manage the tough fixture calendar, there has to be more depth in the squad. "Today, we played with our entire lineup for the first time in a long time, and you can see what we can do when healthy. Kamau added, "Our next goal is to improve how well our team works together," after a three-day game schedule.
Mathare moved up to tenth place in the 18-team league with 19 points from 15 games, while Shabana dropped to seventh with 20 points. Kamau also underlined the need of ensuring that sportsmen have enough rest and family time when on vacation.
