EuroLeague basketball games are returning this week, but Olympiacos’ arena has suffered damage due to heavy rainfall while the team is on the road in Milan.

Details: According to Eurohoops, heavy rain fell in Athens on Thursday, December 26, causing significant damage to Olympiacos’ home venue, the Peace and Friendship Stadium (SEF). These damages could affect upcoming games for Olympiacos, both in the EuroLeague and the domestic championship.

Repairs and cleanup of the flooded areas are set to begin soon, but initial assessments indicate extensive damage and major work needed to restore the arena. Over the past two years, SEF officials have repeatedly requested funding from the Greek government for arena modernization, but those proposals were rejected.

Reminder: The EuroLeague round 17 match between Paris and Fenerbahçe was postponed due to an outbreak of illness within the French team.

Paris Basketball released a statement explaining the situation, revealing that only six players were available for the game.
