Paris basketball club comments on team illness outbreak
The EuroLeague round 17 game between Paris and Fenerbahçe was postponed due to an outbreak of illness within the French team. The club has issued a statement addressing the situation.
Details: The Paris basketball club explained in its statement that only six players were available for the game. They initially hoped to gather enough players for the match but were ultimately unable to do so.
Quote: "Some players had high fevers and were on the verge of fainting.
Initially, we thought we could assemble a squad for the game, but it became clear that the players’ conditions were worsening.
We want to apologize to the fans, especially as the Turkish team endured a challenging journey to get here. We are considering ways to compensate for this inconvenience specifically to them," the club said in its statement.
Notably, Paris currently sits second in the EuroLeague standings with 22 points after 16 rounds, tied with leaders Real Madrid. Fenerbahçe is in sixth place with 20 points.
