Details: According to Meczyki, Lech's charter flight was scheduled to depart Poznań for the Faroe Islands on Wednesday at 14:30. However, due to dense fog in the vicinity of Vágar Airport, the team, having completed all pre-flight procedures, was forced to wait for clearance to take off and land. As of 15:45, the club had yet to receive such approval.
The disruption hasn't only affected the team. Flights carrying Lech supporters via France, Denmark, and Norway were also turned back due to the fog. It's expected that around 100 Polish fans will still be on hand to support their team in the return leg.
This situation could directly impact whether the match goes ahead as planned. According to the source, if weather conditions fail to improve and Lech cannot reach the Faroe Islands in time, the second leg of the Europa League third qualifying round may be postponed from Thursday to Friday or even Saturday.
Lech do have some flexibility in their calendar: their Polish league fixture against Wisła Płock, originally scheduled for August 16, had already been postponed, with a new date yet to be determined.
In the first leg, Lech edged past Klaksvik 1-0 thanks to a decisive 81st-minute strike from Yannick Agnero.
