Match postponed! Bad weather disrupts Estoril vs Marítimo clash in Portugal
Bad weather has disrupted the Portuguese league calendar, forcing another match to be postponed.
Details: The Primeira Liga match between Estoril and Marítimo, originally scheduled for Sunday, November 8, has officially been postponed. The 11th-round encounter was due to take place at the Estádio António Coimbra da Mota, but severe weather conditions on the island of Madeira prevented the visiting team from travelling to mainland Portugal.
According to an official statement from Liga Portugal, the flight that was supposed to transport Marítimo's delegation to the mainland was cancelled because of adverse weather conditions in Madeira. As a result, the visitors were unable to reach Estoril in time for the scheduled kick-off.
The postponement was confirmed on November 7. A new date and kick-off time will be determined through discussions involving both clubs, Liga Portugal and the television broadcaster. No replacement date has been officially announced.
Estoril have also confirmed that tickets already purchased for the match will remain valid for the rescheduled fixture. Supporters wishing to request a refund can contact the club using the details provided in its official announcement.
This is the second match affected by weather conditions during the 11th round of the Portuguese championship, following the postponement of the encounter between Nacional and Académico Viseu.
It is worth noting that Estoril suffered a 4-0 defeat against Porto in their previous league match, while Marítimo lost 2-0 to Santa Clara. The Madeira-based club had collected eight points from ten league matches before this round.
