Marseille announced the name of the new head coach

As expected, French specialist Jean-Louis Gasset has taken charge of Marseille. The appointment of the 70-year-old coach was announced by the club press service, without disclosing the term of the labour agreement.

Recall that the last place of work Gasset was the national team of Côte d'Ivoire, which he left at the end of the group stage of the African Cup of Nations after the defeat from the national team of Equatorial Guinea with a score of 0:4.

Gasset has previously coached Saint-Étienne, Bordeaux and Montpellier in Ligue 1. Gassé was also Laurent Blanc's assistant at PSG and the French national team.

Marseille started this season under Spanish coach Marcelino, but in September the club appointed Gattuso, who was sacked on 20 February. Under the leadership of the Italian, the team won 9 out of 24 matches, and also played 8 times in a draw. After 22 rounds, Marseille is only ninth in Ligue 1.

On Thursday, Marseille will play the return match against Shakhtar in the 1/16 finals of the Europa League. The first game ended with the score 2:2.
