After the departure of Mateo Retegui to Atalanta, Genoa has yet to acquire a prolific striker. However, the club has found an unexpected solution.
Details: According to Fabrizio Romano, the controversial forward Mario Balotelli is close to joining Genoa.
Genoa's head coach, Alberto Gilardino, is open to the idea of signing Balotelli and has already spoken with the player about his potential role in the team.
The negotiations are in advanced stages, and an official announcement is expected by the end of the week.
Balotelli's last club was Turkish side Adana Demirspor.
Reminder: It was previously reported that Balotelli had been in talks with Spanish club Intercity.
