Chelsea defeated Cardiff 3-1 in the EFL Cup quarter-final to reach the semi-finals, but Estevão was absent and will also miss the next match.
Details: After the Cardiff game, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca explained that Estevão has a minor issue, which kept him out of the match. He will also miss Chelsea’s upcoming fixture.
Quote: “Regarding Estevão, he has a small problem. He won’t be able to play against Newcastle. We hope he will return next week,” Maresca said after the game.
In their next match, Chelsea will face Newcastle away in the Premier League on Saturday, 20 December, at 13:30 CET.
