Al Ahly's coach, Marcel Koller, was very critical of his players after their disappointing 0-0 tie with Enppi in the Egyptian Premier League. The defending champions lost two important points, and Enppi almost won the game in the final moments, but Ahmed Ibrahim missed a penalty.
Koller attributed the team's subpar performance to the players' disregard for the strategy. "We didn't do what we planned," he remarked during the news conference following the game. We should have had more opportunities, but the players didn't follow the plan, and we didn't use the sides of the field adequately."
The Swiss coach also noted that facing 10 Enppi players near their penalty box made it difficult for his side to break through. He further admitted that despite Al Ahly being the superior team, they were fortunate not to suffer a loss due to the missed penalty.
Koller said that Mohamed El Shenawy, the goalkeeper, was given a break so Mostafa Shobeir could have match experience, demonstrating the strength of his team.
