During the winter transfer window, Manchester United has already offloaded two crucial players who fell out of favor with the team's manager, Erik ten Hag. Jadon Sancho, who is on the brink of a loan move to Borussia Dortmund, and Donny van de Beek, who signed a contract with Eintracht Frankfurt on the first day of the transfer window, have departed.

According to reports from The Sun, ten Hag is now ready to part ways with another forward, Facundo Pellistri, who has also seen limited game time. Manchester United aims to part with the player during the winter transfer window, and there are indications that Villarreal is interested in him.

Pellistri, who had two loan spells at Alaves during his time with the Red Devils, failed to secure a spot in United's starting lineup. This season, the Uruguayan has played thirteen matches across all competitions, amassing a total of only 363 minutes on the field.

While Villarreal is prepared to acquire Pellistri outright, reports suggest they might also pursue a temporary loan deal with an option to buy in the next transfer window. Meanwhile, Manchester United hopes to recoup the amount they paid for the player four years ago.

Facundo Pellistri joined Manchester United in 2020 from Uruguayan club Penarol for €8.5 million. According to Transfermarkt, the forward's contract value amounts to €10 million. His agreement with the English club extends until the end of the following season.
