Manchester United plan to sign former Barcelona and Chelsea defender
The left-back position remains one of the most problematic areas in Manchester United's squad, and the club has found a cost-effective solution to strengthen it.
According to The Athletic, the Red Devils are showing interest in left-back Marcos Alonso, who is currently a free agent. The 33-year-old has been offered a one-year contract with an option for an additional season.
Marcos Alonso's last club was Barcelona, which he left at the end of the season. Prior to that, he played in the Premier League for Chelsea, Sunderland, and Bolton.
It's worth noting that Manchester United's left-back, Luke Shaw, will miss the start of the season due to another injury.
Yesterday, Manchester United officially announced the signings of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich.
