Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has provided the latest update on the fitness of injured players Mason Mount and Matthijs de Ligt.
Details: According to Carrick at his press conference, Mount’s return is expected in the near future.
"Mason will be back sooner. He’s very close to full recovery now. We hope it won’t take much longer," Carrick noted, indicating that Mount is nearing the end of his rehabilitation from a back injury.
As for Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt, his recovery is progressing according to plan, but requires a bit more patience.
"Matthijs is working on his comeback, making progress step by step and keeping a positive mindset," the coach added.
Carrick emphasized that the defender’s recovery trajectory gives plenty of reasons for optimism, even though the process is gradual.
It’s worth noting that Manchester United’s next match is scheduled for Saturday, February 7, against Tottenham Hotspur. Kick-off is set for 13:30 Central European Time. Both players will miss this clash.
Reminder: It was recently announced that Michael Carrick will be in contention for the Premier League Manager of the Month award in January.
