Erik ten Hag has been given the green light to continue his summer overhaul at Manchester United. The Dutchman has already signed two new players, Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and Lenny Yoro from Lille, for a combined total of £88.5 million.

Although United had previously been linked with a move for PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte, the deal with the Uruguayan seems to have stalled, prompting ten Hag to explore other options. One candidate to replace Ugarte is Sporting Lisbon midfielder Morten Hjulmand.

According to Portuguese publication Correio Da Manha, United is in negotiations to sign the Danish player. The club reportedly will not release Hjulmand for less than £67.5 million.

Hjulmand still has four years left on his contract with Sporting, and the club considers him untouchable. However, Manchester United is keen to strengthen their midfield after Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo struggled with consistency last season.
