Manchester United completed the fifth round of the Champions League with an away fixture against Galatasaray, ending in a 3-3 draw.

As reported by OptaJoe, the "Mancunians" have replicated two undesirable records. This season, Manchester United has conceded 33 goals across all competitions, marking the highest tally in the first 20 matches since the 1962-63 season when the English team conceded 43 goals in the same span.

Moreover, Manchester United has conceded the most goals among all English teams in the Champions League in the first five matches:

  • Manchester United (2023-24) - 14 goals conceded
  • Manchester United (1994-95) - 11 goals conceded
  • Tottenham (2019-20) - 11 goals conceded
  • Manchester United (1998-99) - 10 goals conceded
  • Manchester City (2012-13) - 10 goals conceded
  • Arsenal (2015-16) - 10 goals conceded

Manchester United started the match against Galatasaray impressively. Ten Hag's team scored in the 11th and 18th minutes, with goals from Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes. Within moments, Galatasaray narrowed the gap with a goal from Ziyech. After the break, United regained a two-goal advantage, with McTominay finding the net in the 55th minute. In the 62nd minute, Ziyech completed a brace, and in the 71st, Akturkoglu leveled the score.

It is worth noting that fans have already expressed their reactions to the subpar performance of goalkeeper Andre Onana and Manchester United.
