Manchester City will double their midfielder's salary to prevent him from leaving for Real Madrid
Real Madrid's head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has already stated that the club does not intend to sign a replacement for Toni Kroos. However, his words did not entirely convince Manchester City, prompting them to take precautions to ensure Rodri does not make a move to Los Blancos.
Currently, Rodri is regarded as one of the finest midfielders in the world. He is considered a leading contender for the Ballon d'Or and was also named the best player at Euro 2024.
Real Madrid is quite familiar with him, as he began his career in Spain, and many of their players have shared the pitch with him in the national team. He could serve as an excellent successor to Kroos.
This is why Manchester City decided to offer Rodri a more lucrative contract. According to Mirror, the club plans to significantly increase his salary. With this raise, Rodri would earn £375,000 per week (£19.5 million annually), placing him on par with the team's top stars, Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne.
Although City had previously considered raising Haaland's salary, securing Rodri's future is now their top priority. At present, it does not appear that Real Madrid is actively pursuing Rodri. Ancelotti places considerable trust in Aurélien Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga, believing the French duo can adeptly fill the void left by Kroos.
