Being a backup doesn’t mean being overlooked, as Manchester City’s approach to their second goalkeeper, Stefan Ortega, shows. The club values him highly and has no immediate plans to let him go, at least not yet.

Details: According to Fabrizio Romano, City isn’t interested in selling the German in the winter transfer window, largely due to uncertainty around their primary goalkeeper, Ederson, heading into January. For that reason, head coach Pep Guardiola wants Ortega to remain with the team until the end of the season at a minimum.

Reminder: During the summer transfer window, rumors circulated around a potential departure for Ederson, with heavy interest from Saudi clubs. Al-Nassr, the club now home to Cristiano Ronaldo, was mentioned as a potential suitor for the Brazilian goalkeeper.
