Manchester City has launched an internal investigation into an incident involving the club's mascot, where Erling Haaland allegedly struck her on the back, leaving her with neck pains.

The incident occurred before the match against Southampton, when the woman, who worked as the mascot named Moonbeam, was accidentally hit by the striker in a playful manner, reports The Sun. Initially, she thought she had been hit by a ball, but later it was revealed that it was indeed Haaland who struck her. The woman experienced severe pain in her head and neck area, after which she was taken to the hospital with symptoms of shock.

She later filed a police report, accusing the footballer of assault. However, the club's investigation found no fault on Haaland's part, claiming the strike was accidental and caused no serious harm. The club also noted that Haaland has always treated mascots with care.

Not waiting for the investigation results, the woman stated that her work was undervalued and accused the club of trying to conceal the incident to protect the team's star.
