Manchester City is attempting to hijack the young wonderkid, who is also pursued by Milan

Manchester City has entered the competition for the talented youth midfielder of Partizan, Matija Popović, as per journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Milan stands as a competitor to City, having held talks with the 17-year-old midfielder since October. However, the Rossoneri have yet to come to any agreement, potentially bolstering City's chances to win the race for the player.

The contract of the 17-year-old Serbian youth international with the club expires on December 31, presenting an opportunity to secure his signature as a free agent.

It's worth noting that Popović hasn't made his professional debut yet and has been playing for Partizan's youth teams. At the youth level, the midfielder is regarded as one of Serbia's key talents. In the Serbian U-17 league, Popović scored 21 goals in 25 matches.

Manchester City currently holds the fourth spot in the Premier League standings after 17 rounds. Yesterday, Pep Guardiola's team secured a place in the final of the Club World Cup.
