Manchester City has become the second finalist of the Club World Cup
December 19th saw the determination of the second finalist in the Club World Cup. Manchester City faced Japan's representative, Urawa Red Diamonds, in the semifinal clash. The citizens barely noticed their opponents, securing a resounding 3-0 victory.
The favorite dominated the entirety of the match, as reflected vividly in the statistics: the Japanese side managed just two shots towards the City goal throughout the game.
Under Pep Guardiola's guidance, City took the lead late in the first half after Høibråten scored an own goal. In the second half, the Sky Blues struck twice more, with precise shots credited to Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva.
Thus, City became the second finalist in the Club World Cup. They will contest the tournament's victory against Fluminense, while Urawa Red Diamonds will vie for the bronze medal against Egypt's Al-Ahly. The final and the match for the third-place are scheduled for December 22.
It is worth recalling that Real Madrid emerged victorious in the tournament, defeating Al-Hilal in the final in 2022.
