Manchester City vs Ipswich Town Predicted line-ups and latest news
Today, August 24th, a multitude of matches will take place in the English Premier League. Among them, the reigning champions, Manchester City, will face the newly promoted Ipswich Town.
For City, this will be their first home match of the season. In the opening round, they traveled to Chelsea, securing a confident 2-0 victory. Ipswich, on the other hand, played their first match after returning to the Premier League at home, where they were defeated by Liverpool by the same 2-0 scoreline.

Interestingly, the history of head-to-head encounters between these teams is quite extensive, but their last meeting occurred over 22 years ago, with their last Premier League clash dating back to 2001.
Manchester City approaches this match with a minimal injury list. Only Oscar Bobb is still recovering, and Rodri’s participation remains uncertain. The visitors, however, face a more dire situation. It is unclear whether their first-choice goalkeeper, Arijanet Muric, will play, and Wes Burns, Janoi Donacien, George Hirst, and two other players remain sidelined. Notably, Manchester City’s player Calvin Phillips, who joined Ipswich on loan this summer, will also be unavailable for this match.
Ahead of the game, City’s head coach Pep Guardiola commented on the situation regarding two key players, Savio, who returned from a loan spell at Girona, and Rodri.
“He’s feeling better. I don’t think he’s fully at his best. But he’s been training. We’ll see today and tomorrow what we can do with him,” said the coach about the Brazilian.
“He’s improving. He’s not with the [main] group yet. Perhaps today [he’ll do] partial training,” Guardiola said about Rodri.
“I don’t think so, but we’ll see,” the coach added regarding the possibility of the Spaniard playing in the match.
Ipswich’s coach Kieran McKenna spoke about the team’s preparation and mindset for the game:
“We’re all looking forward to the game, which will be challenging in many ways. But it’s a challenge we’ll embrace, we’ll try to perform well, and we’ll see if we can achieve a positive result.”
