Manchester City continues to struggle with serious squad issues this season.
Details: According to City Xtra, center-back Manuel Akanji is unlikely to play again this season.
Akanji suffered a muscle injury during the Champions League playoff match against Real Madrid (2-3), forcing him to be substituted at halftime by Rico Lewis.
Initial tests indicate that the Swiss defender will be sidelined for approximately three months. In the best-case scenario, he could return for the final rounds of the Premier League and potentially play in the 2025 Club World Cup.
This season, Akanji has featured in 30 matches across all competitions.
Reminder: In the match against Real, winger Jack Grealish also picked up an injury.
