Kylian Mbappe's move to Real Madrid has prompted Manchester City to take action, as they aim to secure their future with their star striker Erling Haaland.

As reported by the Daily Mirror, the English champions are set to initiate negotiations with Haaland in the near future regarding a new contract, one that would eliminate any buyout option for other clubs.

Haaland's current contract with Manchester City is slated to run until the summer of 2027, and by 2025, his release clause will be set at 200 million euros.

Previously, it was reported that Real Madrid plans to sign not only Mbappe but also Haaland. Manchester City seeks to safeguard against such a scenario.

In the current season, Haaland has amassed 21 goals and 6 assists in 27 matches.
