Manchester United intend to be active in the transfer market and there is no doubt about one transfer to Old Trafford, but the club are not ready to overpay for players.

For example, we previously reported that Everton rejected the Mancunians' £35m offer for defender Jarrad Branthwaite, insisting the player is worth at least double that. But according to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United will insist on their own.

It is added that at Old Trafford they are suggesting Everton should "come down to earth" and make their demands "more realistic", emphasising that £35m is the real market price for the defender.

It is also influenced by the rules of profit and financial sustainability, which cannot allow free rein for multi-million pound deals, which, for example, the same Manchester United did five years ago, paying Leicester £80 million for Harry Maguire.
