Man United could bring back Carreras with exclusive buyback option

In the summer of 2024, Manchester United bid farewell to their academy graduate Álvaro Carreras, selling him to Benfica. However, the defender could make his way back to Old Trafford thanks to a special resale clause agreed upon by the two clubs.

Details: According to Record, Manchester United has an exclusive €20 million buyback clause, a price set specifically for the Red Devils. For other clubs, Carreras’ buyout is significantly higher, at €50 million. United is reportedly considering this option due to recent injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, which have forced Erik ten Hag to deploy Diogo Dalot out of position on the left side.

Reminder: Carreras joined Benfica from United for €6 million this summer. The 21-year-old Spanish defender has yet to make a first-team debut, having spent loan stints with Granada and Benfica.
