So, as The Sun reports, Manchester City are pressurising Carsley to release the previously called-up Phil Foden from the national team. The Citizens forward has missed the team's last two matches due to illness, but despite this, has received his call-up to the England squad.
Manchester City want Foden to avoid travelling to the national team's location, and want him to quietly recover from his illness and return to Pep Guardiola's squad after the international break.
While Foden remains an important part of Manchester City, the team have not felt his absence, scoring seven goals in their last two league games, with Erling Håland completing a hat-trick and breaking the 30-year-old's record.
