Tragedy struck at the Etihad Stadium before Manchester City's match against Manchester United, as a City fan fell ill near the entrance. Witnesses shared their accounts with Manchester Evening News.

"It was about 10 past 4. We were going into the grounds at entrance K and the gent was on the floor having CPR performed on him. It had just happened as there were only a few people in front of us. There was one steward working on him, and we were all screaming for them to get a defibrillator. It was chaos."

Despite being rushed to the hospital by an ambulance that arrived promptly, the fan could not be saved.

Manchester City issued an official statement on social media platform X, expressing their condolences to the fan’s family. Luton Town also extended their sympathies to the fan's loved ones and the entire Manchester City community.

The somber news cast a shadow over the match, in which Pep Guardiola's side lost 2-1, continuing their dismal run of form with just one win in their last 10 games. City is now falling further behind in the Premier League title race and is at risk of missing the Champions League playoffs, currently sitting 22nd in the overall standings.
