Mamelodi Sundowns receive a vibrant welcome in Times Square

The revamped FIFA Club World Cup is just days away, and South Africa’s representative—Mamelodi Sundowns—is gearing up for the challenge. On Wednesday, June 11, the team was given a spectacular welcome in New York City.

Details: According to Soccer Laduma, the reigning South African champions were greeted right in the heart of New York—on Times Square. Mamelodi Sundowns appeared in a special video featuring DJ Khaled, in which the star artist congratulates the African side.

Mamelodi Sundowns will kick off their FIFA Club World Cup campaign late at night on June 18 at 00:00 Central European Time. In their group, the South African side will face Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense.
