Mamelodi Sundowns defender Khuliso Mudau on their game against Polokwane City: It will be a difficult game but it's important we start winning again
Khuliso Mudau has called for calmness in the Mamelodi Sundowns camp as their Betway Premiership title took knocks in the past two games.
Mudau’s Sundowns played two consecutive draws in the PSL against Stellenbosch FC and Richards Bay, something unheard of in local football, as the Brazilians are known as a formidable side.
Now Sundowns are a point behind Orlando Pirates with a game less than the Sea Robbers on the PSL standings.
The eight PSL titles on the trot is as a result of their formidability in recent seasons and it’s the reason why those draws are seen as huge setbacks.
This evening Mudau, a dependable right-back, and his team-mates will face a tough Polokwane City at Seshego Stadium in a PSL tie.
“We’re taking it one game at a time; we’re not putting ourselves under pressure, I think it’s very important in a situation like this to calm down and focus more on ourselves and not on other things that’s happening,” Mudau said.
“Polokwane City? It will be a difficult game – to be honest. But I believe everyone is ready for the game and yeah it’s going to be tough but we have to go there and make sure we make ourselves, our supporters and families back home happy. It’s very important to win after two draws in a row, it’s unlike us, but yeah.”
Sundowns will face Polokwane City again on Sunday, something which may make them want to approach today’s game with less effort.
But the Bafana Bafana international said a half-hearted effort exist not at Sundowns.
“There’s no reserving yourself at Sundowns, we want to win every match, obviously playing them home and away, it will be at advantage for them when they are at home but then when they come to Loftus it won’t be nice for them, we will make it difficult both sides,” he continued.
“Obviously with our fans, I’d like to encourage them to keep on pushing us because we need them to be honest, they have helped us through all these games but we have now disappointed them a bit – with this one coming, we want to take three points to take to the next one.”
The game starts at 7.30pm.
